The Griffins jumped out to an early 7-2 lead over the Cardinals just 2:30 into the contest on a three pointer from Trevor Blondin.  The Cardinals responded with an 8-0 run to take a 10-8 lead.  SHU retook a 13-12 lead with 12:59 to play on a three pointer from Nathan Davis.  Over the next four minutes the Cardinals were able to build their 23-13.

SHU was able to cut lead to four twice but the Cardinals built their lead back to nine at 30-21 with 5:45 to play in the half.  Three straight baskets from Malik McKinney and a three from Davis tied the game at 30 with three minutes to play in the half.  Milenko Predic gave SHU a 37-36 halftime lead.

Layups from Predic and McKinney to open the half, pushed the Griffins lead to 41-36.  The Cardinals took a 44-43 lead on a three pointer at the 17 minute mark.  Over the next five minutes, the game would be tied four times with Wheeling holding the biggest lead of four points.

With the game tied at 55 with twelve minutes left in the half, the Griffins scored the next four points and never trailed for the remainder of the contest.  They used a 12-2 run to build the lead to 79-65 with four minutes to play.  They were able to build the lead to 16 points before settling for the eleven point win.

The Griffins finished the game shooting 55% from the floor and 50% from three point land.  SHU out rebounded the Cardinals 31-28.
