GREENSBURG, PA. - Seton Hill University built a 5-2 lead in the second half, but Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania hit on three penalty kicks late in the game as the two teams battled to a 5-5 draw in double-overtime in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference men's soccer action on Sunday.
// NOTABLES
• Seton Hill now stands with a record of 4-2-5 (1-2-3 PSAC) on the year.
• The game was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday, October 6th, but lightening delays at the start of the second half pushed the restart of that game past the three-hour time limit. By rule, the game had to be restarted.
• Austin Iddon had 11 saves in the game.
// FIRST HALF
• Lock Haven's Shane Colegrove netted the first goal of the game in the 21st minute when he received a through ball that was lifted over the SHU defense. • • •
• Seton Hill responded in the 23rd minute with a header from Tim Bjerkman to knot the game up at 1-1. Tormod Simonsen's free kick found the head of Bjerkman and was sent into the top left of the goal.
• LHU took a 2-1 lead into halftime when Beckham Sibiski scored in the 43rd minute.
// SECOND HALF
• Goals from Joffe Bradley (51st, 62nd), Per Stenseth (52nd) and John Kenneally (78th) gave Seton Hill a commanding 5-2 lead. However, Brian Flatter scored penalty kick goals in the 80th, 83rd, and 87th minutes to send the game into overtime.
// OVERTIME
• Seton Hill and Lock Haven had the same amount of combined shots in overtime (6). Lock Haven had two in the first, and added four (4) more in the second. SHU managed just one in the first, but rattled the cage for five (5) in the second.
// NEXT UP
• Seton Hill takes a break from PSAC play to travel to Salem, WV and take on the Tigers of Salem University on Tuesday, October 9th. That game is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
