The Griffins closed out their weekend trip to Erie with a matchup with #23 Gannon on Saturday afternoon. Seton Hill fought the Knights but came up just short in the end, falling in four sets. SHU drops to 12-7 overall and 6-3 in PSAC play while the Knights improve to 19-1 and 8-1 in PSAC play.
Gannon led throughout most of the first set and scored the final four points of the set to take a 1-0 lead with a 25-20 first set win. The Knights jumped out to an early 9-2 lead in the second set. Four straight from the Griffins, two on kills from
Jillian Livorse and
Jessica Hanson, cut the lead to 13-11. A block from Hanson and two other Gannon errors tied the set at 16. The Griffins then used a 5-0 run to take a 21-17 lead. Livorse had two kills and Hanson added one plus a block from
Leah Bisignani and
Erin Parks gave SHU the lead. Back to back kills from Parks and Bisignani tied the match at one with a 25-19 second set win.
SHU took a 6-2 lead to start the third set. The Knights battled back to tie the set at six. A kill from
Viktoria Farian and a block from
Rachel Satira and Bisignani gave SHU a 22-19 lead. Hanson gave SHU a 25-24 lead but a service error tied the set at 25. Two straight points from the Knights gave them a 2-1 lead with a 27-25 third set win. The Griffins again took a lead in the fourth set, this one 9-5. Kills from Bisignani and Satira gave SHU a 20-17 lead. Hanson's kill gave SHU a 23-20 lead. The Knights scored the final five points to close out the match.
Hanson led the Griffins with 14 kills. Livorse added 10 kills while Bisignani added 9.
Brynn Fleury and
Taylor Sabol each had 23 assists. Bisignani led with 8 blocks while Hanson finished with 6. Satira added 5.
Hannah Moeller had 28 digs.
Viktoria Farian added 24.
SHU will travel to Indiana (PA) on Friday night.
