Griffins T-21st in 2018-19 Preseason Rankings; Three Griffins Individually Ranked
Three Seton Hill Griffins were nationally ranked in the Division II Wrestling Coaches Association Preseason National Rankings. As a team, the Griffins were tied for 21st in the country with Chadron State and Adams State.
St. Cloud State was the top-ranked program with 92 team points while Nebraska Kearney was second with 69 points. Notre Dame (OH) was third (67 points) and McKendree was fourth (59 points). Regional foe Wheeling Jesuit was fifth (48 points). Pitt Johnstown and Upper Iowa tied for sixth with 45 points.
All three Griffins ranked nationally have been national qualifiers in their career. Damon Greenwald, who was a national qualifier last season, enters this season ranked seventh at 174 pounds. Alan Diltz, who was a national qualifier and All American as a freshman in 2017, enters this season ranked seventh at 133 pounds. Billy Bowlen, who also was a national qualifier as a freshman in 2017, comes into the season ranked ninth at 184 pounds.
