Griffins Drop PSAC Dual at Mercyhurst
Seton Hill made the trip to Erie on Wednesday evening looking to extend their dual match winning streak to six matches. The Lakers won six of the ten matches to end the Griffins winning streak with a 30-16 victory. SHU is now 11-3 overall and 4-2 in PSAC matches.
The Lakers won the opening match to take a 3-0 lead over the Griffins. Rodney Sunday answered back with a 10-4 decision win at 133 pounds to even the match at three.
Mercyhurst then won the next three matches, two of them by fall to extend their lead to 18-3 midway thru the match.
Zach Voytek picked up a win by fall of his own 55 seconds into the second period at 165 pounds to trim the Lakers lead to 18-9. Damon Greenwald followed that up with a major decision win of his own to make the score 18-13 with three matches to go.
After the Lakers picked up another win by fall, Jacob Temple won by an 8-3 score at 197 pounds for the final Griffin win of the night.
SHU will host East Stroudsburg and West Liberty on Sunday afternoon in a pair of dual matches.
