Two Wins by Fall Carry Griffins to Road Win at #18 Gannon

Seton Hill returned to the mats after their outstanding performance at the NWCA Nationals Duals with a PSAC dual match at #18 Gannon on Saturday night.  It was a rematch of the Griffins semifinal win at the National Duals.  After winning the semifinal by a tiebreaker, the Griffins used two wins by pinfall in route to a 22-20 victory over the Golden Knights.  SHU is now 6-1 overall in dual matches and 3-0 in PSAC duals.

Gannon opened the match with a win by decision at 125 pounds to take a 3-0 lead over the Griffins.  Rodney Sunday gave the Griffins a 4-3 lead in the match with a 9-0 major decision win at 133 pounds.  Joel Cawoski picked up the first Griffin win by pinfall on the night as he won 3:42 into his 141 pound match.  Cawoski's win gave SHU a 10-3 lead after three matches.  Gannon responded with two wins by tech fall at 149 and 157 pounds to retake a 13-10 lead in the match.

Zach Voytek earned a hard fought 3-2 win in overtime at 165 pounds to tie the match back up at 13.  Damon Greenwald then picked up the second win by pinfall for the Griffins.  Greenwald earned his pin with 14 seconds to go in the third period.  The win pushed the Griffins lead to 19-13. 

After Gannon cut the Griffins lead to 19-17 with a major decision at 184 pounds, Jacob Temple earned an 8-2 decision win at 197 pounds to give the Griffins a 22-17 advantage with one match to go.

Seton Hill returns home on Tuesday evening when they take on Pitt Johnstown in a huge PSAC dual match at 7:30 PM.  The Mountain Cats are 2-0 in PSAC duals this season.
