The Griffin volleyball team swept through its first weekend of play as they won all four of their matches at the Virginia State Tournament by 3-0 scores. SHU was able to continue its winning streak on Friday afternoon with two wins in the Walsh Cavalier Tournament but dropped its first set of the season.
Seton Hill knocked off Fort Hays State by the score of 3-1 to open the tournament and then defeated West Liberty by a 3-0 score to improve to 6-0 on the season. The Griffins opened with a 25-17 win in the first set over the Hilltoppers. West Liberty made it close in the second set but fell by a 25-22 score. SHU closed out the match with a 25-17 third set win.
Leah Bisignani led the Griffins against West Liberty with 15 kills and only 1 error in 23 total attacks. She also added 5 digs and 2 blocks.
Viktoria Farian finished with 6 kills while
Jillian Livorse added 5.
Maggie Murray and
Brynn Fleury split time at the setter position with Murray having 14 assists and Fleury adding 12. Murray and
Katie Wenson each had 3 blocks in the match.
Hannah Moeller led the team with 18 digs. Livorse finished the match with 11 and
Mary Baich added 10 digs.
SHU will close out the tourney with a match against Walsh at 11 am on Saturday and Roberts Wesleyan at 3 pm.
