Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Griffins Start Season 3-0 After Win Over AB

The Seton Hill soccer team was looking for its first 3-0 start since the 2006 season as they hosted Alderson Broaddus at Dick's Field on Wednesday afternoon.  SHU scored two first half goals and added a second half goal for a 3-1 win.  The Griffins are now 3-0 on the season for the first time since 2006 when the team started the season 4-0.

Each team had just one shot over the game's first ten minutes with each shot being stopped by the opposing keeper.  SHU got on the scoreboard in the 15th minute off a corner kick.  Megan Warman took the corner and found Emma Porteous in the box who passed it off to Katie Kimmich who beat the keeper for the first goal of the game.  Just over five minutes later, the Griffins increased their lead to 2-0.  Porteous played a great thru ball and found Emily LoPresti behind the Battler backline.  LoPresti placed a perfect shot inside the post for her third goal of the season.  Alderson Broaddus cut the lead in half in the 34th minute after a foul in the box.  AB hit the side netting on the penalty kick to trim the lead to 2-1.  SHU took the 2-1 lead into the halftime break.  The Griffins held a 9-3 advantage in shots in the first half.

The Griffins increased their lead to 3-1 with just over six minutes to play in the game.  Syaani Harris scored her third goal of the game as she found a loose ball just outside the box and beat the keeper for a 3-1 lead.

Seton Hill held a 21-9 advantage in shots in the contest.  Both teams had four corners.

Jessica Neill made 5 saves in net for her third win of the game.

SHU returns to PSAC action on Saturday as they travel to East Stroudsburg.
