Women's Lacrosse makes it three straight with win over Edinboro

EDINBORO, Pa. - Sophomore Mackenzie Kilduff scored a game-high four goals as the Seton Hill University women's lacrosse team won their third straight PSAC game with a 16-6 win over Edinboro University on Tuesday afternoon at Sox Harrison Stadium.

The win improves SHU's record to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in the PSAC. Edinboro falls to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

With the game tied, 1-1, early in the first half, the Griffins rattled off eight unanswered goals over a 20-minute span before Edinboro finally stopped the momentum with 6:50 remaining in the half. The rally saw six Griffins - Charlotte Cunningham (24:40), Mackenzie Kilduff (20:32, 15:20), Tristen Hanke (20:04), Keagan Pontious (18:39, 16:54) Katelyn Cressman (17:24), and Nellie Phillips (16:40) - scored at least one goal as the game swung securely in SHU's favor. Edinboro would respond with three unanswered goals themselves to make the score 9-4 going into the break.

After Garland scored the opening goal for the Fighting Scots, SHU would score seven-straight to grab a 16-5 lead with 6:17 remaining. Pontious scored at the 25:00 mark to start the run followed by goals by Tristen Hanke (23:14), Kilduff (19:00), and Cunningham (16:20) to put SHU ahead, 13-5. Kildfuff would score again with 14:41 showing on the clock followed by a Cunningham goal with 9:33 to go. Olivia Caragein's capped off the run and put the game firmly out of reach. Edinboro's Erin Gordon would score with just nine ticks remaining to give us the final score, 16-6.

Kilduff led all scorers with four goals. Keagan Pontious and Charlotte Cunningham added three apiece, and Tristen Hanke came away with two goals. Cunningham also had a game-high six assists in her nine point effort. Katelyn Cressman, Nellie Phillips, Nicole Nath, and Olivia Caragein each had a goal in the win. 

Elysia Garland had two goals to lead the Fighting Scots. Olivia Potts, Emily Peters, Rachel Olson, and Erin Gordon had goals on the day. Pott's had Edinboro's only assists.

Meghan Hollar picked up the win for SHU, spending the first 30 minutes tending the net while grabbing two saves and giving up four goals. Edinboro's Paige Skinner gets the loss, spending all 60 minutes in the net.

The Griffins return home on April 1st when they take on PSAC rival Indiana University (PA). The game is scheduled for a 4:00 PM start.
