Casson's Double Double Leads Griffins over Mansfield

Seton Hill kicked off PSAC play on Saturday afternoon as they hosted Mansfield in a PSAC crossover.  Spencer Casson nearly missed a triple double as he finished with 9 blocks but his 18 points and 15 rebounds helped the Griffins to a 66-60 victory.  SHU improves to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in PSAC play while the Mountaineers fall to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in PSAC play.

Neither team was able to pull away over the first half of the first half as neither team held more than a four point lead.  A three pointer from Nathan Davis gave SHU a 13-12 lead with just under 11 minutes to play in the half.  Mansfield then went on a 10-2 run to take a 22-15 lead with 8:37 to play in the half.  Two free throws from Casson cut the Mansfield lead to 24-23 with 3:48 to play.  A three pointer from Trevor Lecuona and a dunk from Casson gave the Griffins a 32-28 lead with less than a minute to play in the first half.  SHU took a 34-32 lead into the halftime break.

Mansfield opened the second half on a 10-2 run over the first three and a half minutes to take a 42-36 lead.  A dunk and put back from Casson and a layin from Terell Duck tied the score at 42 with 14:52 to play in the half.  The Mountaineers followed with four straight points to take a 46-42 lead with 12:38 to play.  Over the next eight minutes the Griffins were able to outscore them by a 15-4 margin to take a 57-50 lead with 4:20 left in the half.  Mansfield was able to get two within four points but that was as close as they would get as the Griffins settled for a six point win.
