Seton Hill kicked off PSAC play on Saturday afternoon as they hosted Mansfield in a PSAC crossover.
Spencer Casson nearly missed a triple double as he finished with 9 blocks but his 18 points and 15 rebounds helped the Griffins to a 66-60 victory. SHU improves to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in PSAC play while the Mountaineers fall to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in PSAC play.
Neither team was able to pull away over the first half of the first half as neither team held more than a four point lead. A three pointer from
Nathan Davis gave SHU a 13-12 lead with just under 11 minutes to play in the half. Mansfield then went on a 10-2 run to take a 22-15 lead with 8:37 to play in the half. Two free throws from Casson cut the Mansfield lead to 24-23 with 3:48 to play. A three pointer from
Trevor Lecuona and a dunk from Casson gave the Griffins a 32-28 lead with less than a minute to play in the first half. SHU took a 34-32 lead into the halftime break.
Mansfield opened the second half on a 10-2 run over the first three and a half minutes to take a 42-36 lead. A dunk and put back from Casson and a layin from
Terell Duck tied the score at 42 with 14:52 to play in the half. The Mountaineers followed with four straight points to take a 46-42 lead with 12:38 to play. Over the next eight minutes the Griffins were able to outscore them by a 15-4 margin to take a 57-50 lead with 4:20 left in the half. Mansfield was able to get two within four points but that was as close as they would get as the Griffins settled for a six point win.
Spencer Casson finished the game with a double double, nearly missing a triple double. He had 18 points, 15 rebounds, 9 blocks, 4 assists and 4 steals.
Nathan Davis just missed a double double off the bench with 17 points and 9 rebounds.
Trevor Lecuona added 9 points and 4 assists.
The Griffins return to action on Sunday as they host Lock Haven in a PSAC crossover at 3 PM.
