Griffins Drop Second Game of PSAC/CIAA Challenge

The Griffins completed the PSAC/CIAA Challenge on Saturday afternoon as they took on the host team Virginia State.  The Trojans jumped out to an 18-8 lead after the first quarter and rolled to 69-49 victory over the Griffins.  SHU falls to 1-1 on the season while the Trojans improve to 2-0.

Seton Hill scored the first four points of the game on two jumpers from Jenna Kaufman.  The Griffins would go over five minutes without scoring before Hannah Laslo and Halie Torris each hit baskets to cut the Virginia State lead to 12-8.  The Trojans scored the final four points to take an 18-8 lead after one quarter.  Virginia State built their lead to as many as 20 in the second quarter before settling for a 37-20 halftime lead.

The Griffins were able to cut the Virginia State to nine points a couple times in the third quarter but the Trojans held a 49-34 lead after three quarters.  SHU was never able to cut the Virginia State lead to single digits in the fourth quarter as the Trojans rolled to a twenty point win.

Both teams shot 38% from the field in the game but the Griffins were only 1-16 from three point land.

Kaufman led the Griffins with 14 points.  She also added 10 rebounds. Torris and Cheyenne Trest each added 11 points.

Seton Hill will host Mansfield and Lock Haven next weekend in PSAC Crossovers.
