The Griffins took on Slippery Rock with PSAC playoff positioning on the line on Saturday afternoon. The Griffins were ice cold from the floor in a 67-32 loss to the Rock. SHU drops to 8-11 overall and 5-10 in PSAC action.
The Rock came out of the gates shooting 5 of 7 to take an early 12-4 lead at the first media timeout of the half. Slippery Rock extended their lead to 17-5 with 11:30 left in the first half.
Trevor Lecuona ended an over seven minute field goal drought with a three to cut the Rock lead to 21-10 with 8:30 to play in the half.
Brandon Alston and
Tyler Bowling added baskets as the Griffins trimmed the lead to 26-14 with 3:36 left before halftime. Each team scored two more points before the half and the Griffins trailed 28-16 at the half.
Lecuona drained a three to open the half but the Rock extended their lead to 36-21 with 16:23 left in the quarter. The Rock pushed their lead to 19 points at the under twelve media timeout. The Griffins went nearly six minutes without a point before
Noah Davis hit a layup with 8:15 to play with SHU trailing 54-27.
Trevor Lecuona led the Griffins with 8 points.
