After winning two matches on Friday at the Shippensburg Raider Classic, the Griffins looked to improve to 4-0 with two matches on Saturday. It would not be easy for the Griffins but they were able to improve to 4-0 on the season with two hard fought victories. SHU lost the first set but rallied to win three straight sets to defeat Concord 3-1 in the opening match. The Griffins then won a five set thriller over host Shippensburg in the night cap.
Seton Hill dropped the first set to Concord by a 25-16 score. The Mountain Lions hit .379 in that first set. SHU responded with a 25-8 win in the second set. The Griffins hit .448 as a team in that set. SHU took a 2-1 lead with a 25-16 win in the third set and closed out the match with a 25-23 win in the fourth set.
Cassie Hausfeld led the Griffins with a match high 22 kills. The 22 kills are a career high for Cassie.
Jillian Livorse finished with a collegiate high 11 kills.
Rachel Satira and
Leah Bisignani each added 7 kills.
Maggie Murray finished with 28 assists while
Brynn Fleury added 24.
Hannah Moeller had a match high 26 digs. Bisignani and
Jenna Sassack each had 5 blocks.
Shippensburg took the first set by a 25-14 score. SHU tied the match at one with a 25-23 win in the second set. Ship took a 2-1 lead with a 25-21 win. The Griffins forced a fifth and deciding set with a 28-26 fourth set win. Two kills from Hausfeld ended the fourth set. The fifth set was tight early and the score was tied 7-7 when the Griffins went on an 8-1 run to take the set and the match 15-8. Hausfeld had four kills during the run and teamed with Sassack for two blocks during the run. Hausfeld finished with a match high 19 kills. She added 24 digs for a double double. Satira and Sassack each finished with 8 kills while Bisignani and Livorse added 7. Fleury led with 34 assists. Moeller had 30 digs and Sassack added 5 total blocks.
SHU will hit the road next weekend as well as they will play in the Wayne State Tournament.
