Season Ends With a 3-0 Loss to East Stroudsburg in the NCAA Regional

Seton Hill saw their season end in the Atlantic Regional following a 3-0 loss to East Stroudsburg on Saturday afternoon at Owls Field in West Lawn, PA.  The Griffins were unable to solve starter Brandon Holup until the ninth inning but it was too little too late.  SHU ends their season at 40-18.

East Stroudsburg used a leadoff single, a balk and a one out hit to right field to take a 1-0 lead over the Griffins in the top of the first inning.  The Warriors added another run in the second inning with a two out RBI double.  Warriors starter Brandon Holup faced the minimum thru three innings with only Anthony Fanelli reaching by a walk in the first inning but was caught stealing.

Holup continued his success as he faced the minimum thru five innings.  SHU starter Tyler Morder matched Holup with 0's in the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings.

The Warriors added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI double to push their lead to 3-0.  Seton Hill finally got their first hit of the day with a leadoff single by Garret Vrbanic in the bottom of the seventh but a double play wiped out the base runner.  Fanelli was then hit by a pitch but a foul out ended the inning.

Seton Hill had one more inning left and had their greatest threat in the ninth inning.  Taylor Schmidt led off the inning with a single to left and was pinch ran for by Chris LawColton Carney pinch hit and singled to left putting runner at first and second with no outs, forcing a pitching change.  ESU reliever Connor Crookham then got a strikeout for the first out.  Zac Heide then walked to load the bases with one out.  Crookham was then able to get the final two outs on a strikeout and a ground out to end the game.

Tyler Morder suffered the loss, going 6 1/3 innings.  He gave up 3 runs on 4 hits while striking out 4.
