Taylor's Double-Double Leads SHU To PSAC Tourney Berth

GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Seton Hill University men's basketball team clinched a PSAC Playoff berth on the backs of a 91-83 win over Indiana (PA) Wednesday night at the McKenna Center.

With the win, Seton Hill clinched the number 5 spot in the PSAC West. SHU finished the 2015-16 regular season with a record of 13-13 overall and 11-11 in the PSAC. IUP, who had already earned the number 1 seed in the West, drops to 20-7 overall and 17-5 in the PSAC.

Kameron Taylor, playing in his final home game, led the Griffins with a game-high 30 points and 13 rebounds. Taylor added eight assists and four steals in the win. Spencer Casson finished with 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting and four blocks. Trevor Blondin and Manny Joshua added 13 points apiece in the win.

Daddy Ugbede paced IUP with 26 points on 10-of-15 from the floor. Brandon Norfleet added 20 points on 7-of-16 shooting, and Brandon Spain finished with 12 points on 4-of-6 from the floor to round out the double-figure scorers for the Crimson Hawks.

For the game, Seton Hill made 30-of-55 (54.5%) shots from the floor, and was 6-of-15 (40.0%) from three-point range. The Griffins were 25-of-29 (86.2%) from the line. Indiana connected on 30-of-63 (47.6%) total shots and made 5-of-16 (31.3%) from deep. The Crimson Hawks were 18-of-21 (85.7%) from the charity stripe.

Seton Hill will take on the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in the first round of the PSAC Tournament this Saturday, February 27th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM at in Johnstown, Pa.


GAME NOTES:
  • ~ Spencer Casson leads the NCAA in Blocked Shots Per Game (3.67) and is second in Total Blocks (88.0).
  • ~ With his four blocks against IUP, Casson now has 92 total blocks on the season...10th most in a single-season in the history of the PSAC.
  • ~ Manny Joshua scored in double-figures (13 points) for only the second time this season. The other time was against IUP when he also finished with 13 points.
  • ~ Kameron Taylor has posted double-figures in 25 out of the 26 games played this season. He has scored 20+ in 14 of those games, and 30+ in four games. Taylor now has 10 double-doubles on the season.
  • ~ Taylor scored 21 of his 30 in the second half.
  • ~ This was the first time a Seton Hill men's basketball team has defeated IUP. IUP now leads the series, 10-1.
  • ~ The IUP bench outscored the SHU bench, 42-14.
