Griffins See Winning Streak End at Mercyhurst

Seton Hill made the trip to Mercyhurst on Wednesday evening looking to solidify their place in the PSAC standings, breaking up a logjam for the fifth and sixth playoff spots.  SHU did not help their standing  and saw their three game wininng streak come to an end with a 74-61 loss to the Lakers.  SHU drops to 11-13 overall and 9-11 in PSAC play.  The Lakers are now 16-8 overall and 13-7 in PSAC play.
 
Mercyhurst jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead on the Griffins.  A three pointer from Kameron Taylor and baskets from Trevor Blondin and Noah Davis cut the Laker lead to 12-9 with 15 minutes left in the half.  The Lakers then scored six straight points to build their lead to nine points.  Davis answered with back to back three pointers and Zach Herman's jumper trimmed the lead to 20-19 with 9:42 to play.  Blondin's three cut the Laker lead to 29-24 with 5:34 to play in the half but the Lakers closed the half on a 14-5 run to take a 43-29 lead into the halftime break. 
 
The Griffins were able to stay around ten points down through the early part of the second half.  SHU trailed 55-45 with 12 minutes to play in the half.  The Lakers then scored the next five points to build their lead back up to fifteen points.  After two free throws by the Lakers gave Hurst a 66-53 lead with 5:31 to play, Taylor hit back to back buckets to trim the lead to 66-57 with 4:22 to play.  The Lakers then went on an 8-0 run to put the game away. 
 
SHU shot 52% from the floor but 17 Griffin turnovers led to 17 Mercyhurst points.
 
Noah Davis led the Griffins with 17 points.  Kameron Taylor finished with 15 points and Trevor Blondin added 14 points. 
 
SHU will continue PSAC West play on Saturday when they head to Edinboro.
