Box Score Seton Hill began its playoff push with a match at California on Tuesday evening. The Griffins playoff hopes took a hit as they were swept at California. SHU falls to 17-12 overall and 9-7 in PSAC play.
California jumped out to an early 7-2 lead in the first set. A kill from
Jillian Livorse ended a 6-1 California run. The Vulcans then extended their lead to 11-4 forcing a SHU timeout. Six straight attack errors from Cal allowed the Griffins back in the set at 11-10.
Cassie Hausfeld tied the set at 11 with a kill. Back to back kills from Livorse and Hausfeld trimmed the Vulcans lead to 16-15. Back to back kills from
Katie Wenson and
Rachel Satira got the Griffins to within one at 20-19. Cal scored five of the next seven points to take the first set 25-19.
The Vulcans took an early 6-3 lead in the second set. A kill from Wenson followed by an ace from Hausfeld and kill from Livorse tied the set at six. SHU was able to extend their lead to 10-8. The Vulcans then went on a run with the jump serve, including two aces to take a 13-11 lead. A block from Bisignani and Livorse cut the Vulcans lead to 18-17. Cal led 24-19 but SHU fought back to trim the lead to 24-23 before the Vulcans took the set 25-23.
SHU took an early 4-2 lead in the set. Cal then went on a 7-1 run to take a 9-5 lead forcing a SHU timeout. An ace from
Danielle Nese cut the Vulcans lead to 13-8.
Caylene McKinney's ace trimmed the Vulcan lead to 18-14. The Vulcans won the match with a 25-17 win in the third set.
Jillian Livorse led the Griffins with 13 kills.

Katie Wenson each added 6 kills.
Maggie Murray added 27 assists.
Mary Baich finished with 22 digs. Livorse added 11.
SHU will return to action on Friday when they host Clarion for Senior Night.
