Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Poor Shooting Dooms Griffins Against Mercyhurst

GREENSBURG, Pa. - A season-low shooting percentaged stalled the Seton Hill University men's basketball team as the Griffins fell to Mercyhurst in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action on Wednesday evening. SHU shot just 32.0% (16-of-50) to scored a season-low 48 points.

Seton Hill drops to 6-9 overall and 4-7 in PSAC play while Mercyhurst improves to 12-4 on the season and 9-3 in the conference.

The Griffins started off the contest red-hot from the floor. Noah Davis hit from deep and followed it up by two jumpers as SHU raced out to a 10-2 lead with 15:22 in the first half. However, a 13-2 run by the Lakers gave the visitors the lead with 10:38 remaining and they would never relinquish that lead on their way to the victory.

Senior Noah Davis led SHU with 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting. Tyler Bowling had eight (8) points on 1-of-2 from the field and 6-for-6 from the charity tripe. Spencer Casson grabbed 12 rebounds in the loss. Mercyhurst was led by Kayode Ajenifuja's game-high 19 points on 8-of-19 from the floor. Jean Onana netted 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting.

Mercyhurst outrebounded Seton Hill by a slim 36-34 margin, but scored 16 second-chance points compared to just four (4) for SHU. The Lakers outscored SHU 20-6 in points off turnovers.

The Griffins take to the road this Saturday, January 16th to take on Gannon University in Erie, Pa. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM with Live Stats being available HERE, Live Video HERE, and Live Audio HERE.
