Box Score The men's soccer team looked to respond from an opening day loss as they traveled to Painesville, OH to take on Lake Erie in a non conference matchup on Saturday afternoon. Seton Hill scored with 2:17 left in the second overtime period for a 4-3 victory. SHU improves to 1-1 overall.
Seton Hill jumped on the board first in the 15
th minute when
Harry Beattie scored off a feed from
Tom Urquhart to give the Griffins a 1-0 lead. Lake Erie responded with a goal in the 27
th minute to tie the score at one. The Storm increased their lead to 2-1 with a goal in the 36
th minute. Lake Erie held the 2-1 lead at the half. SHU held an 11-6 advantage in shots at the half.
The Griffins scored the first two goals of the second half to take a 3-2 lead.
Curtis Gallagher scored the tying goal in the 56
th minute of the game and
Joe Smith netted his first goal of the game in the 64
th minute to give the Griffins the 3-2 lead. Lake Erie responded and tied the score at three with a goal in the 73
rd minute. Neither team scored the rest of regulation and the game headed to overtime. Both teams were scoreless in the first overtime period as well.
Scott Fox scored a goal with 2:17 to play in the second overtime period to give the Griffins the 2-1 victory.
Colin Watson assisted on the game winner.
The Griffins outshot the Storm 23-12.
