The Griffins continued PSAC Crossover action on Saturday at Shippensburg looking for their second straight crossover win. Seton Hill controlled the contest throughout but were outscored 26-12 over the last 6:22 and dropped a 94-93 decision on a three pointer with 2.4 seconds to play. SHU falls to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in PSAC play.
After Ship hit the first basket of the half, the Griffins went on a 9-1 run to take a 9-3 lead at the 15:45 mark of the half.
Spencer Casson had 4 points during the run. Ship responded to take a 13-11 lead before
Kameron Taylor hit a three to give SHU a 14-13 lead at the under 12 media timeout. SHU then went on a 7-2 run to take a 21-15 lead, forcing a Ship timeout with 9:04 to play in the half.
Noah Davis hit a three pointer to give the Griffins their largest lead of the half at 29-22 with 4:55 to play in the first half. Davis then drilled his third three of the half to increase the lead to 33-24 at the last media timeout of the half. SHU then used a quick 6-2 run on two baskets from Casson to push the lead to 39-26 with 1:38 left. Davis then drilled another three and got a steal and dunk to help push the lead to 44-28 at the half. Davis led SHU with 17 points in just 11 minutes of action.
Shippensburg was able to cut into the Griffins lead in the first four minutes of the half as they trailed 52-39 at the under 16 media timeout. Ship cut the lead to 57-50 before two free throws from
Trevor Lecuona and back to back threes from Taylor and Lecuona extended the lead back to 65-50. SHU built their lead to 79-63 at the under eight media timeout. Shippensburg then got hot from three point land and cut the Griffins lead to 91-86, forcing a SHU timeout with 2:52 to play in the half. Taylor's bucket increased the lead to 93-88 at the 1:50 mark. Ship then hit a free throw and a basket to cut the SHU lead to 93-91 with 1:17 to play. SHU missed their last two shots and Shippensburg won the game with a three pointer with 2.4 seconds to play.
The Griffins held their largest lead of the game at 19 points with 8:48 to play in the second half. SHU gave up 66 points in the second half. SHU shot 53% from the floor and 53% from three point land but it wasn't enough in the loss.
Kameron Taylor posted his first triple double of his career with 27 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists.
Noah Davis finished the game with 19 points.
Tyler Bowling added 14 points and
Spencer Casson and
Trevor Lecuona each added 10.
Seton Hill will next travel to Clarion on Wednesday December 16
th.
