Women's Soccer Closes Season with Loss at #20 West Chester

The Griffin women's soccer team closed out its season with a road contest at #20 West Chester on Saturday afternoon.  The Rams entered the contest winners of six straight and had 597:30 consecutive minutes without surrendering a goal.  The Griffins were able to end their scoreless streak but were not able to end the winning streak as the Rams ran their streak to seven with a 2-1 victory.  SHU ends their season with a 7-10-1 overall record and a 5-10-1 mark in PSAC play.  West Chester ends the regular season with a 14-3 overall record and a 13-3 mark in PSAC play. 

West Chester took a 1-0 lead just 4:47 into the contest when they scored on a cross that was put into the back of the net.  The Rams increased their lead to 2-0 in the 32nd minute on a goal after a free kick.  WCU took the 2-0 lead into the halftime break.  West Chester held an 11-5 advantage in shots in the first half. 

Seton Hill got on the board and ended the Rams long scoreless streak with a goal in the 54th minute.  Emma Porteous won possession in the midfield and found Melanie Renda on a counter attack.  Renda played a diagonal pass into Emma Bearinger who took a touch and drove the ball into the back of the net.  It was the first goal given up by the Rams in 650 minutes and 42 seconds.  The Griffins continued to pressure but could not score the tying goal.

Carolin Edenhofner recorded 3 saves in net for the Griffins.
