Griffins Win Home Opener over Shepherd 3-1

The Griffin volleyball team returned home after playing on the road for two weekend tournaments with a 7-0 record.  Seton Hill put their undefeated record on the line as they battled Shepherd in their home opener.  SHU was able to defeat Shepherd in four games to remain undefeated.  Shepherd took the opening set by the score of 25-23.  The Griffins responded with a 25-17 win in the second set.  SHU took a tight third set by the score of 25-23 and closed out the match with a 25-14 win in the fourth and final set.  SHU improves to 8-0 on the season.

Corrine Gahagen led the Griffin offense with 20 kills and hit .410 in 39 attempts.  She also added 6 total blocks and 1 ace.  Shelby Kyllo finished the match with 12 kills.  She also added 5 blocks.  Cassie Hausfeld finished with 9 kills and 6 total blocks.  Abigail Malsch added 7 kills, 2 aces and 2 blocks.  She also had 11 digs.  Courtney Field ran the Griffin offense with 39 assists.  Field added 6 kills and 3 blocks.  Lauren Teed and Courtney Oberlander each had 17 digs.

The Griffins will return to the court this weekend when they take part in the PSAC crossovers.  SHU will take on Shippensburg and Pitt Johnstown at Shippensburg on Friday.  They will then travel to Millersville on Saturday where they will take on the Marauders and Lock Haven.
