Bovey "Clutch" Masiole Lifts Griffins in another Overtime Victory

Box Score

Greensburg, PA- Graduate student Bovey Masiole netted the overtime winning goal to lift the Griffins to a 2-1 victory over Salem International University Tuesday afternoon. Seton Hill is now 3-0-1 to start the 2014 season.

Ben Alport jump-started the Griffins to a good start with the first Seton Hill goal scored at 7:57 in the first half.  Riding on that momentum the Griffins held a 1-0 lead at half time.

The Griffins would hold the 1-0 lead until the 60-minute mark in the second half until Salem International tied the game 1-1 on their first goal of the game.

The game settled for a 1-1 tie at the end of regulation time and overtime would commence.

In the first 10-minute overtime both teams struggled to find the winner. Salem International came up short, missing the net on two shots. The last and final 10-minute overtime was played to determine the winner.

3:53 into the last overtime period, Bovey Masiole netted a goal off a cross pass from junior Seon Ripley to win the game. Bovey seems to have a knack for being in the right place at the right time. Last week Bovey scored the overtime-game winner to beat Wheeling Jesuit University. Once again, in dramatic fashion, the Griffins will stand in overtime.

Both team had 12 shots throughout the match. Junior goalkeeper, Cameron Evans was credited with 4 saves and his third win of the season.

Seton Hill will travel to Bloomsburg on Friday, September 19. Bloomsburg will be the Griffin's first PSAC contest of the 2014 season. Game time for Friday is set for 5:30 p.m.
