Box Score The Griffin soccer team continued its nonconference schedule with a road contest at Mountain East foe Wheeling Jesuit on Wednesday night. The game was scoreless through the first 90 minutes before the Griffins netted the game winner 4:18 into the first overtime period for a 1-0 road win. SHU improves to 2-0-1 on the season.
The first half was closely played as the Griffins held a 5-4 advantage in shots. Wheeling held a 9-6 advantage in the second half but Griffin keeper
Cameron Evans kept the Cardinals off the scoreboard with 6 saves in the second half, sending the game to overtime tied at 0. The Griffins were able to find the back of the net 4:18 into the first overtime period when
Bovey Masiole scored off a great pass from
Ben Alport to end the contest. Evans was spectacular in net, earning his second straight shutout of the season, making 9 saves.
The Griffins will return to action next Wednesday afternoon when they host Salem International for a 5:30 PM start.
