Seton Hill tried to knock Edinboro from the ranks of the unbeatens in the PSAC West on Wednesday evening but came up short, falling by the score of 65-53. The Griffins drop to 12-9 overall and 4-7 in PSAC West play. SHU is tied for sixth place in the PSAC West with Pitt Johnstown.
Edinboro jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead just over two minutes into the contest. The Griffins responded with back to back three pointers from
Paige Alviani and
Tiara Stossel to tie the score at 8 at the 16:26 mark of the first half. The Fighting Scots then went on a 6-0 run to take a 14-8 lead. A jumper from Stossel, a three point play from
Katie Gattuso and a free throw from
Jessica Slagus tied the score at 14. Edinboro then went on a 11-2 run to push the lead to 25-16 with just over three minutes remaining in the half.
Kelly Brennan's layin cut the Scots lead to 27-22 with 2:21 to play but a 9-0 Scots run ended the half giving them a 36-22 lead at the halftime break.
Edinboro pushed their lead to 16 points at 45-29 with 13:26 to play in the half. The Griffins were able to trim the lead to 45-37 after a four point play by
Kelly Brennan at the 10 minute mark of the half. That was as close as the Griffins would get the rest of the half and the Griffins suffered a 65-53 loss.
Katie Gattuso posted a double double of 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Paige Alviani also finished with 16 points.
Kelly Brennan just missed double figures with 9 points.
Seton Hill will travel to Indiana (PA) on Saturday for another PSAC West battle. Tip is set for 5:30 PM.
