The Griffins put four players in double figures as they were able to defeat Edinboro by the score of 73-61 at home in PSAC West play on Wednesday evening. SHU improves to 13-8 overall and 5-6 in PSAC West play. Seton Hill is tied for fifth place with Pitt Johnstown.
The Griffins were able to jump out to a quick 7-2 lead on three points from
Kameron Taylor. Edinboro answered with an 11-4 run of their own to take a 13-11 lead with 14:39 to play in the half. After trailing 17-15, SHU went on a 7-0 run to take a 22-17 lead with just over 11 minutes to play in the first half.
Malachi Leonard had 4 of the 7 points during the run. Back to back three pointers from
Oliver McGlade and
Noah Davis pushed the SHU lead to 28-24 with 7:35 to play. After Edinboro hit a three, the Griffins closed the half on a 10-4 run to take a 38-31 halftime lead.
Edinboro started the second half on a 12-6 run to cut the Griffins lead to 44-43 with 15:17 left.
Oliver McGlade kicked off a 9-1 Griffin run with a three pointer that pushed the lead back to 53-44 with just under 11 minutes left in the half. The Scots were able to trim the lead to 59-56 with just over 6 minutes left in the half. Seton Hill then closed out the Fighting Scots with a 14-5 run to take home a 73-61 victory.
Malachi Leonard led the Griffins with 21 points. He also added 8 rebounds.
Kameron Taylor finished the game with 18 points and 5 assists.
Oliver McGlade also reached double figures with 12 points. McGlade also had 5 assists.
Noah Davis was the fourth Griffin in double figures with 11 points. Seton Hill finished shooting 55% from the floor as a team.
The Griffins will travel to Indiana (PA) on Saturday for another PSAC West battle. Tip is set for 7:30 PM.
