Box Score Seton Hill hosted California (PA) in an important PSAC West matchup on Tuesday evening as both teams entered with 13-4 marks in PSAC play. It was also the Griffins Pink Match and the match was played in front of a large and loud crowd. Seton Hill did not disappoint the large crowd as they rallied from down 24-18 in the first set for a 31-29 win in route to a three set sweep of the Vulcans. Seton Hill improves to 25-4 overall and 14-4 in PSAC play while the Vulcans fall to 21-8 overall and 13-5 in PSAC play.
Cal jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first set. SHU battled back and cut the lead to 13-11 after a
Corrine Gahagen block. Cal then went on a run to take a 22-15 lead. Back to back kills from
Cassie Hausfeld and
Courtney Field cut the Cal lead to 22-18. Cal got to match point with a 24-18 lead.
Abigail Malsch, Hausfeld, Field and
Shelby Kyllo each had kills to give the Griffins a 25-24 lead. Cal retook the lead 26-25 before Hausfeld and Field's kills put SHU up 27-26. A Cal ace gave them another set point at 28-27. Gahagen answered with a kill and a block to give SHU a set point at 29-28. Cal tied the score at 29 before Gahagen gave SHU a 30-29 lead with a kill. Kyllo and

The Griffins took an early 3-1 lead in the second set. Cal fought back and took a 6-4 lead before the Griffins tied the set at seven. Cal went on a 4-0 run to take an 11-7 lead. Back to back blocks from the Griffins cut the lead to 11-10. Kyllo then had an ace that trimmed the Cal lead to 14-12. Back to back kills from Gahagen gave SHU a 17-15 lead. Two Cal hitting errors pushed the lead to 20-16. A Kyllo block extended the lead to 22-17 and Malsch finished the second set with a kill to give the Griffins a 25-17 victory and a 2-0 lead in the match.
The third set was all Griffins as they took an early 8-2 lead forcing a Vulcan timeout. Back to back kills from Malsch increased the lead to 11-3. Kyllo completed a 8-1 run with a kill that gave SHU a 14-3 lead.
Maggie Murray had a kill on two to increase the lead to 18-5. SHU extended the lead to 15 at 20-5 before Cal scored three quick points forcing a SHU timeout. The Griffins closed out the set and the match, taking the third set by a 25-13 score.
Cassie Hausfeld led the Griffins with 11 kills.
Corrine Gahagen added 10. Gahagen also finished with 7 blocks.
Shelby Kyllo ended the match with 6 blocks and 4 kills.
Courtney Field had a great all around match with 6 kills, 29 assists and 10 digs. Hausfeld had a match high 19 digs.
Lauren Teed finished with 16 digs.
Abigail Malsch and Gahagen added 11 digs.
Seton Hill will travel to Slippery Rock on Friday and Edinboro on Saturday for two more PSAC West battles. SHU and the Rock meet at 7 on Friday and the Griffins and Scots battle at 1 PM on Saturday.
