Griffins Go Cold in Last Five Minutes in 64-61 Loss

The Seton Hill men's basketball team travelled to Clarion on Saturday evening for a PSAC West battle.  Clarion outscored the Griffins 13-0 down the stretch to take a 64-61 victory.  SHU led 58-51 with five minutes to play but went scoreless until Malachi Leonard hit a three at the buzzer.  SHU falls to 11-5 overall and 3-3 in PSAC West play.
 
SHU jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead behind four points from Malachi Leonard.  Clarion then went on an 11-3 run to take an 11-9 lead at the under 12 media timeout.  A basket from David Windsor gave the Griffins a 15-13 lead with ten minutes to go in the half.  Clarion then scored six straight to take a 19-15 lead at the under 8 minute timeout.  Noah Davis scored five straight then a basket from Leonard gave the Griffins a 24-23 lead with 3:45 to play in the half.  Windsor's basket right before the half gave the Griffins a 28-27 lead at the halftime break.  Leonard led the Griffins with 8 points. 
 
Max Kenyi's three gave the Griffins a 33-32 lead early in the second half but the Golden Eagles answered with a three of their own to take a 35-33 lead at the under 16 media timeout.  Oliver McGlade hit a three pointer and baskets from Malachi Leonard and Kenyi keyed a 7-0 Griffin run that gave them a 47-43 lead with 10:45 to play.  Six straight points from Leonard pushed the lead to 55-49 with 6:16 left.  McGlade's three pointer pushed the lead to 58-51 with just over five minutes to play.  Clarion then went on a 7-0 run to tie the score at 58 with just over a minute to play.  After another Griffin miss the Golden Eagles took a 60-58 lead with 50 seconds to play.  Clarion then hit two free throws and forced a over and back on the Griffins then hit two more free throws for a 64-58 lead with 28 seconds to play. 
 
Malachi Leonard posted another double double of 24 points and 10 rebounds.  Max Kenyi and Oliver McGlade each had 9 points in the loss. 
 
Seton Hill will travel to Slippery Rock on Wednesday for another PSAC West contest.
