The men's basketball team hosted the Rams of Shepherd University on Thursday night in a conference contest. The Griffins held off the Rams down the final stretch earning a 68-61 win at home.
Seton Hill got on the board first with a two foul shots by
David Windsor. Shepherd then scored a jumper to tie the game 2-2 at the 18:11 mark. Over the next four minutes the Griffins out scored the Rams 15-5 and with 12:56 on the clock had a 17-7 lead. The Griffins maintained that 10-point lead throughout the rest of the half. During the final minutes the Rams went on a 6-0 run to bring the game within 7 points.
Ozren Bjelogrlic managed to sink a jumper at the buzzer to give the Griffins a 9-point advantage 32-23 going into halftime.
During the second half it took the Rams till the 13:28 mark to bring the game within reach of the Griffins 41-37. A Layup from
Lenjo Kilo and a three pointer from Windsor and McGlade quickly extended the Griffins lead back to 10 points 49-39 with 11:27 left on the clock. Seton Hill once again maintained their advantage until the 5:59 mark when the Rams made it a 55-52 game. The Griffins responded to the final run by the Rams by keeping their composure and making their foul shots earning the Griffins a 68-61 win at home.
Seton Hill had four players in double digits.
Malachi Leonard who scored 15 points led the Griffins offense.
David Windsor and
Oliver McGlade both added 12 points apiece while
Max Kenyi chipped in 11 points. With the win the Griffins record improves to 12-11 overall and 9-10 in WVIAC conference play. Seton Hill is at home for their next game on Saturday where they host West Virginia Wesleyan at 4:00PM
