The Griffins returned to PSAC West play with a road contest at Edinboro on Wednesday evening. The Scots came out shooting the lights out in the second half and cruised to a 76-60 victory. The Griffins fall to 4-3 overall and 0-3 in PSAC West play.
The Griffins got four points from
Katie Gattuso and a three from
Paige Alviani as the score was tied at seven at the first media timeout of the half. Edinboro hit three threes over the next five minutes and pushed their lead to 20-15 with 10:16 to play in the half. SHU battled back and cut the lead to 22-19 at the under eight media timeout. Alviani's three trimmed the lead to 27-26 with 3:52 left in the first half. Alviani gave the Griffins a quick 28-27 lead but Edinboro entered the halftime break with a 32-30 lead. Gattuso led the Griffins with 10 points. Alviani also added 10 points.
The Scots came out on a 10-2 run to open the second half and lead 42-32 with 18:06 to play. Hope Mancini of the Scots continued her hot shooting and scored 16 points in the first four minutes of the half to push the lead to 50-35. Edinboro continued to add to its lead and led 60-39 with 11:46 to go.
Mallory Sanner scored four straight points to trim the lead to 60-45. Four from
Meghan Mastroianni cut the lead to 62-49 with 7:05 left in the half. Edinboro pushed their lead back to 20 points at 71-51 at the under four media timeout.
Katie Gattuso led the Griffins with 14 points.
Kelly Brennan added 14 and
Paige Alviani also reached double figures at 10. Gattuso recorded another double double of 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Seton Hill will return home on Saturday to host Indiana (PA) at 3 PM.
