The Seton Hill men travelled to Shippensburg on Saturday afternoon for another PSAC crossover matchup. The Griffins built a big lead early and were able to hang on for an 82-80 victory. SHU improves to 8-3 on the season.
The Griffins were able to build an early 9-7 lead at the first media timeout. Four straight points from
Nate Perry pushed the Griffin lead to 13-7.
Malachi Leonard gave the Griffins a 22-11 lead with a bucket at the 11:37 mark of the half forcing a Ship timeout. The Griffins continued to pull away and led 28-13 at the 9:05 mark following a
Skylar Jones bucket. SHU was able to continue to push the lead and took a 48-34 lead into the halftime break.
Nate Perry led the Griffins with 15 points. Nax Kenyi added 12 points.
Shippensburg game out in the second half and went on a 9-2 run to trim the lead to 50-43 with 16:49 left in the half. The lead dropped to six at 52-46 at the under 16 media timeout. The Griffins were able to extend the lead back to 59-50 at the under 12 media timeout. Ship then trimmed the lead to 64-61 with 7:31 to play. Ship took a one point lead before Jones gave SHU a 68-66 lead with a three at the 5 minute mark. A three point play from Leonard gave SHU a 73-67 lead with 4:15 to play in the half. Another three point play from Perry pushed the lead to 78-72 with 1:11 to go. The Griffins were able to hang on for an 82-80 victory.
Nate Perry led the Griffins with 28 points.
Malachi Leonard posted another double double of 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Max Kenyi added 14 points.
Seton Hill will return to action on January 3
rd and 4
th when they travel to Kutztown and Mansfield for PSAC crossover action.
