The Griffin women dropped a PSAC crossover at home on Wednesday evening to visitiing Millersville by the score of 71-54. The Griffins never held a lead throughout the entire contest. With the loss the Griffins fall to 6-4 overall on the season.
Millersville jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead on the Griffins and never looked back. A layin from
Mallory Sanner and a free throw from
Meghan Mastroianni trimmed the lead to 6-3. The Marauders then went on another 6-0 run to push the lead back to nine points. A three pointer from
Tiara Stossel cut the lead to 14-11 with just over nine minutes to play in the half. Millersville answered with a 12-2 run to push the lead back to 26-13 with 5:29 to play in the half. The Griffins were able to trim the lead to 7 twice the rest of the half and trailed 35-26 at the half.
The Griffins came out of the locker room strong in the second half, opening the half on a 8-0 run with the last bucket coming off a steal from Sanner and a layin from Stossel that cut the lead to 35-34 with 17:12 left. Another layin from Stossel cut the lead to one at 39-38 with 13:14 to play but that was as close as the Griffins would get. Millersville was able to extend the lead and come away with the 71-54 victory.
Paige Alviani led the Griffins with 19 points.
Tiara Stossel finished the contest with 17 points.
Seton Hill will close out the pre-Christmas part of the season when they travel to Shippensburg on Saturday afternoon.
