Comeback Comes up Short in 80-75 Loss to Ashland

The Griffins jumped out of PSAC play on Tuesday evening to travel to GLIAC member Ashland.  Seton Hill rallied to tie the score but came up short by an 80-75 score.  SHU falls to 3-2 overall. 
 
Ashland took an early 10-2 lead just two and a half minutes into the contest.  SHU responded with a big run of their own to take a 22-17 lead with 11:50 to play in the first half.  Noah Davis followed with a three pointer to give SHU a 25-19 lead with just under 11 minutes to play.  Ashland then went on another run and took a 34-26 lead at the six minute mark.  The Eagles pushed their lead to as many as 14 in the half before entering the halftime break with a 47-35 lead.  Davis led the Griffins with 15 points at the half. 
 
Seton Hill was able to battle back in the second half and trimmed the lead to 52-50 on two Malachi Leonard free throws with 13:10 left in the half.  Max Kenyi tied the score at 54 with a jumper.  Ashland pushed their lead to 68-60 with 7:23 to play.  The Griffins came back and tied the score at 71 on an Oliver McGlade free throw with just over three minutes left in the half.  After an Ashland basket, Davis hit one of two free throws to cut the lead to 73-72 with 2:18 to play.  The Eagles then hit a three pointer on their next possession.  Leonard then hit one of two free throws to trim the lead to 76-73 with 1:46 left.  Fifteen seconds later Kenyi hit two free throws to cut the lead to 76-75.  After the teams exchanged turnovers, Ashland got an offensive rebound and made a layin and got fouled with 7 seconds left to give them a 78-75 lead.  Ashland decided to foul on the next possession and Kenyi missed both of his free throws with the Eagles grabbing the rebound.  Ashland was able to ice the game from the line.
 
Noah Davis led the Griffins with 24 points and 7 rebounds.  Max Kenyi recorded a double double of 16 points and 10 rebounds.  Malachi Leonard also posted a double double of 12 points and 13 rebounds.  Oliver McGlade also reached double figures with 10 points.
 
The Griffins return to action on Saturday when they travel to Ohio Dominican for a 7 PM tipoff.
