Winning Streak Comes to an End With 3-1 Loss at Clarion

Box Score

The Griffin volleyball team saw its nine game winning streak come to a halt on the road at Clarion in PSAC West action on Friday night.  Seton Hill lost a close battle in game one before taking advantage of Clarion errors in the second set before dropping the final two sets for a 3-1 loss.  With the loss, the Griffins fall to 24-6 overall and 12-4 in PSAC play.

The first set was a tight battle throughout with a three point lead being the most either team would hold.  SHU led 8-5 before Clarion took a 15-12 lead in the set.  Clarion then led 21-19 before the Griffins took 4 of 5 points to lead 23-22.  After a Clarion timeout, the Golden Eagles scored 4 of the last 5 points of the set for a 26-24 victory.  The second set started off with the score being tied at 6.  The Griffins then went on a 15-5 thanks to a large amount of Clarion errors to lead 21-11.  Clarion ran off 5 straight before the Griffins closed out the set with a 25-17 victory.  The third and fourth sets were all Clarion as they took the third set by a 25-12 margin and ended the Griffins winning streak with a 25-13 victory in the fourth set.

Corrine Gahagen led the Griffins with 9 kills.  She also added 3 blocks.  Shelby Kyllo added 8 kills and 4 blocks.  Lauren Teed had 17 digs.
