The Griffin volleyball team ran its winning streak to nine games on Saturday afternoon following a sweep of Gannon in PSAC West play. Seton Hill now improves to 24-5 overall and 11-3 in PSAC play. Seton Hill jumped out to a 15-8 lead in the first set and won the set by a 25-21 score.
Corrine Gahagen had a huge first set with 7 kills. The Griffins led throughout the second set and took a 2-0 advantage with a 25-21 victory. SHU jumped out to an early 8-2 start before the Knights fought back to tighten the set up but in the end, the Griffins prevailed and completed the sweep with a 25-19 victory.
Corrine Gahagen led the Griffins with 13 kills. She also added 4 blocks.
Cassie Hausfeld followed with 9 kills.
Shelby Kyllo added 6 kills and 5 blocks while
Kelsey Profio finished with 5 kills and 4 blocks.
Courtney Field added 28 assists.
Lauren Teed led the Griffins with 20 digs. Field and Hausfeld each added 10.
Halfway through the PSAC West schedule, the Griffins sit in third place behind leader California (15-0) and second place Clarion (12-1). Gannon (9-6) is fourth and Mercyhurst (8-7) is fifth. The top four seeds out of the west make the PSAC playoffs.
Seton Hill will travel to Clarion and Indiana (PA) next weekend.
