The Seton Hill volleyball team ran its winning streak to seven matches following a 3-0 sweep at home of Alderson Broaddus on Tuesday evening. With the victory, the Griffins improve to 22-5 on the season. Seton Hill used an 8-0 run in the first set to come back from 11-8 down and take a 16-11 lead and then comtinued on for a 25-16 first set victory. SHU again used a run in the middle of the second set to win the set. The Griffins trailed 11-6 before running off 7 of 8 points to take an 13-12 advantage.
Katie Bloomgren then served two aces late in the set to give the Griffins a 24-16 lead and the Griffins took control of the match with a 25-16 second set win. After a 10 minute intermission, the story remained the same in the third set. Alderson Broaddus jumped out early to a 13-9 lead with the Griffins rallying to take a 15-13 lead. SHU was then able to close out the Battlers with a 25-22 victory.
Seton Hill used a balanced offense to take care of the Battlers.
Abigail Malsch led the Griffins with 7 kills.
Cassie Hausfeld and
Shelby Kyllo each added 6 and
Corrine Gahagen and
Kelsey Profio each tallied 5 kills.
Courtney Field ran the squad with 27 assists. Four Griffins reached double figures in digs with
Lauren Teed recording a game high 17.
Katie Bloomgren followed with 14 while Malsch finished with 11 and Hausfeld 10. Kyllo led the squad with 5 total blocks.
The Griffins return to PSAC action this weekend when they host fifth place Mercyhurst on Friday and fourth place Gannon on Saturday.
