The Griffins were on the road Monday night as they traveled to Fairmont State University to face the Falcons in a WVIAC conference match up. Seton Hill came up short losing 59-58 in overtime, seeing their eight game winning streak come to an end.
Fairmont State grabbed an early lead at 15-4 after the first minutes of action, but Seton Hill would spend the rest of the half chipping away at the Falcon lead. The Griffins were successful and ended the half with an 8-1 run to knot the game at 22-22 at halftime.

The Falcons seized control of the game early in the second half and led by six 38-32 at the 11:15 mark. The Griffins then gained momentum and went on an 11-0 run to take a 43-38 lead with 6:47 remaining in the game. The Griffins had a 49-44 advantage with just under four minutes to play, but a three pointer and jumper from the Falcons knotted the score at 49-49. Fairmont State then hit another jumper to put the Falcons up 51-49, but
Tiara Stossel tied the game up with a jumper of her own with just under a minute to play to send the game into overtime.
Gattuso gave the Griffins a 53-51 lead with two free throws less than a minute into the overtime. FSU then went on a 6-0 run to take a 57-53 lead with 1:24 to play in the overtime. Stossel cut the lead to one with a three with 1:03 to play. Stossel then got a steal and was fouled and made two free throws to put the Griffins up 58-57 with just 27 seconds left in the overtime session. The Falcons then buried a jumper just inside the free throw line with 8.8 seconds left to give FSU the 59-58 lead. SHU had one more chance but Stossel's last second shot hit the front of the rim as time expired.
Seton Hill was led by
Katie Gattuso who scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Griffins.
Tiara Stossel also had a big game recording 20 points and
Paige Alviani added 12 points. With the loss the Griffins now stand at 8-5 overall and 5-2 in WVIAC play. Seton Hill will host West Liberty next at home on January 10, at 5:30PM.
