The Griffins were back at home on Saturday afternoon as they faced the Mountain Lions of Concord University in a conference contest. Seton Hill picked up the win at home defeating the Mountain Lions 68-56. With the victory the Griffins record now stands at 10-8 overall and 7-7 in WVIAC play.
After 5 minutes of play in the first half the game was tied 7-7. A three pointer from
Nate Perry gave the Griffins the 10-7 lead. Concord answered back with two buckets to trail by one. A
Malachi Leonard layup and a
Lenjo Kilo jumper extend the Griffins advantage 14-11 at the 12:59 mark. Seton Hill then entered a 9-0 scoring run increasing their lead by 12 points making it a 23-11 contest with 8:52 to go. The Griffins were able to maintain their 12-point lead until the final minutes when the Mountain Lions outscored the Griffins 6-0 to enter halftime-trailing Seton Hill 32-25.
In the Second half the Griffins continued their momentum from the first half. At the 11:25 mark Seton Hill had an 18 point advantage over Concord 49-31. Over the next four minutes the Mountain Lions cut the Griffins lead down and trailed 52-43 with 7:30 remaining. That was the closest Concord would come to catching the Griffins. Seton Hill took control over the game once again and finished Concord off with a 68-56 win at home.
Malachi Leonard led the Griffins with a double double scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Nate Perry added 15 points and
Max Kenyi chipped in 10 points. The Griffins host Davis & Elkins next on Thursday at 7:30PM.
