Box Score In WVIAC soccer action Seton Hill matched up against the visiting Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan University on Wednesday afternoon. Lack of composure and very soft goals led to a 5-1 Griffin defeat.
In the first half the Bobcats got on the scoreboard first, scoring ten minutes into play when Richard Sho-Silva headed in a corner kick off of Matthew Browns head to take a 1-0 lead over the Griffins as they left a man free in the box. Three minutes later the Bobcats pounced again making it a 2-0 contest at the 13:20 mark. Neither team managed to score the rest of the half as Seton Hill entered intermission down by two.
During the second half the Griffins lost their marks and gave up another goal to extend the Bobcat lead to 3-0. The Griffins caught a break at the 57:42 mark when
Joe Tchimou was tripped up in the box and scored off a penalty kick to put the Griffins on the board 3-1. Two minutes later a Bobcat free kick ball deflected off a Griffin and went into the net to increase the lead to 4-1. The Griffins continued to not close down defensively allowing another goal at the 77:22 mark. With the final whistle the Griffins suffered the 5-1 loss.
Jordan Sodhi recorded 4 saves in net. With the loss the Griffins record stands at 1-6 overall and 1-2 in WVIAC play. Seton Hill resumes play Saturday, September 22 when they take on Cedarville at home at 2:00 PM.
