3-0 Senior Night Victory

Box Score On Friday night the Griffins hosted the Pioneers of Glenville State College in their last regular season game. The Pioneers put up a tough fight but the Griffins kept their composure when the sets got close and defeated Glenville 3-0.
 
In set one Glenville jumped out to a 4-0 start. Katie Bloomgren ended the Pioneers run and put the Griffins on the board 4-1. Seton Hill closed in and tied the set up 7-7. Late in the set the Pioneers had a 17-15 lead. However, the Griffins would earn the next two points off of a Shelby Kyllo block and a Larissa Santangelo block to tie the set 17-17. Play went back and forth and the game became tied once again 20-20. A Kyllo kill and Christina Donahoe kill followed by two Glenville errors and a Bloomgren kill gave the Griffins the 25-21 set win.
 
In set two action Glenville had an early 7-4 lead. The Pioneers continued to lead all set until the Griffins gained momentum and tied the set late 24-24. Corrine Gahagen earned a kill to give the Griffins the 25-24 lead and set point. The Pioneers answered right back with a kill to tie the game 25-25. Gahagen hammered down another kill to snatch the advantage right back 26-25. Once again Glenville struck back making it a 26-26 set. Kyllo blocked the Pioneers next attempt to give Seton Hill the 27-26 lead. Kyllo finished Glenville off with a kill to end the set 28-26 and give the Griffins the 2-0-match advantage.
 
In set three the contest was tied 13-13. The Griffins then hit a huge 6-0 run taking a 19-13 lead over the Pioneers. The Pioneers could not make up the deficit and suffered a 25-15 set loss and a 3-0-match defeat.
 
Gahagen who had 11 kill led the Griffins offense. While Kyllo added 8 kills and Chelsey Regovich chipped in 7 kills. Courtney Field recorded 23 assists for the night.  On the defensive end Kyllo had 11 blocks and Lauren Teed earned 23 digs.The victory gives the Griffins a 20-11 overall season record and a 12-2 WVIAC season record. With the win the Griffins clinch at least the third seed in the WVIAC Tournament. Seton Hill may move up to second if Alderson Broaddus loses at Shepherd on Saturday afternoon. If Seton Hill finishes second the Griffins play at 4:30 on Thursday and if they finish third the Griffins will play at 7:00 on Thursday at the University of Charleston.
