Box Score On Saturday afternoon Seton Hill hosted the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State University in a WVIAC Conference match. All three matches were close but the Griffins were able to come out on top sweeping WV State 3-0.
In set one action the teams were tied early 6-6. The Griffins began to heat up taking a 12-8 lead. The Yellow Jackets immediately called a timeout to try to stop the Seton Hill momentum. However, WV State could not close the gap on the Griffins suffering a 25-17 loss in set one.
In set two Seton Hill started out with a 3-0 run. The Yellow Jackets closed in and tied the set 10-10.
Katie Bloomgren's back-to-back aces were part of the Griffins 5 point run making it a 15-10 set. WV State answered back with two points to end the run 15-12. Seton Hill continued to increase their advantage over WV State and ended the set with a 25-18 win and making it a 2-0 match.
In set three the Griffins took an early four point lead over the Yellow Jackets 5-1. WV State caught fire and slowed down the Griffins drive catching up 14-12. Seton Hill increased their lead to five points with the score 21-16 late in the set. The Griffins finished the Yellow Jackets off once again 25-18 and earning the 3-0-match victory.
Corrine Gahagen who recorded 11 Kills led the Griffins offense.
Christina Donahoe added 6 kills,
Courtney Field had 17 assists, and
Kelsey Profio added 9 assists. On the defensive end
Lauren Teed had 16 digs,
Abigail Malsch earned 15 digs, and
Katie Bloomgren added 14 digs.
Corrine Gahagen and
Shelby Kyllo both recorded 7 blocks. With the win Seton Hill now stands at 13-10 overall and 7-2 in WVIAC conference play. The Griffins will take on West Virginia Wesleyan next on October 23
