Cawoski led the Griffins to a fourth place finish at the Mount Union Invitational after placing first at 141 pounds.  Cawoski opened with a 12-6 win in the first round before winning by pinfall at 5:52 in the quarterfinals.  He then defeated teammate Luke Landefeld 5-3 in the semifinal.  Joel then took on returning All American and preseason third ranked Carmen Ciotti in the finals.  Cawoski defeated Ciotti by an 11-7 decision to earn the title at 141 pounds.
