Willis opened the season at the YSU Icebreaker with a performance of 47.47 in the 400 meter dash. His time was good enough for second in the event. That time is the best in the PSAC and third best in Division II. The time is the ninth best in any division. He also anchored the PSAC leading 4x4 relay team.
