AUSTIN, Texas - Seton Hill University men's soccer standout
Joe Smith was selected to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, the organization announced Monday afternoon. While Smith was selected to the 2015 Academic All-District team, this is the first CoSIDA Academic All-America selection for the Senior hailing from Castle Dorington, England. Joe is scheduled to graduate in May with a degree in Accounting and currently sports a 3.95 GPA.
Smith started in all 20 games in the midfield for the Griffins squad that finished with an overall record of 12-8 and was 7-4 in the PSAC. The team avenged an early season loss to defeat California University of Pennsylvania, 4-0, in the first round of the PSAC Tournament before falling to eventual PSAC Tournament Champion Mercyhurst University in an overtime thriller, 3-2. Joe finished the season ranked fourth on the team in goals with four,including the game-winner against NYIT on September 21st. He was the team leader in assists with six.
Earlier this month, Smith was named to the
First Team All-PSAC squad and announced as a
Second Team All-DSCCA Atlantic Region selection.
