Griffins Run Streak To Eleven With 12-10 Win Over Limestone

GREENSBURG, PA. - Goals by Shane Pettke and Jack Moran in the final 25 seconds of the second quarter turned a deficit into a lead as the Seton Hill University men's lacrosse team held off Limestone College, 12-10, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Dick's Sporting Goods Field. 

// NOTABLES
• Seton Hill (12-1) won their eleventh consecutive game and got strong performances from Jack Moran and John Hofseth as well as a strong defensive effort from goalkeeper Max Eismann
• The Griffins defeated Limestone College for the first time in program history. Limestone leads the non-conference series, 3-1. 

// HOW IT HAPPENED
Limestone struck first with a goal with 5:31 remaining in the first. Seton Hill would respond goal goals from Jack Moran (3:32) and John Hofseth (1:06) to take a 2-1 lead. Ryan Manbeck would get a goal right before the first quarter buzzer to give SHU a 3-1 lead heading into the second.

The two teams battled back-and-forth in a second quarter that featured four ties and two lead changes. Trailing 6-5, Shane Pettke tied the game with a goal off of a Zack Rusch assist with 25 seconds remaining. LC would win the ensuing face off, but a clear attempt failed, clearing the way for a Jack Moran goal with just five seconds on the clock to make the score 7-6 in favor of Seton Hill.

In the third quarter, Limestone would get a goal with 2:01 remaining to tied the game at 7-7. But, a John Miller goal regained the lead with just 35 ticks remaining.

The two teams traded goals to start the fourth, with Rusch scoring at 14:41 to push the lead to 9-7 before Limestone scored at 12:06. SHU would rattle off three straight from goals by Pettke, Sean Stanners, and Moran that gave Seton Hill the largest lead by any team, 12-8, with 8:47 remaining. Limestone would score goals at 7:30 and 3:58, but Seton Hill would hold on for the 12-10 win.

Seton Hill will travel to Alderson Broaddus on April 24th before finishing out the regular season with a trip to North Canton, OH to take on Walsh University.
