One member of the Seton Hill track and field program has qualified for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Alabama at the Birmingham CrossPlex, as part of the 2017 NCAA Division II National Championships Festival. The University of Alabama in Huntsville and the City of Birmingham will serve as co-hosts of the championships..  Patrick O'Connor was named as a qualifier for the national championships on Tuesday afternoon.  O'Connor is tied for the 11th best jump in Division II this season with a mark of 2.10 meters.  It is the first trip to nationals for O'Connor.  The last Griffins to attend a national championship were Mallory Sanner and Jessica Slagus who took part in outdoor nationals in 2015.  Taylor Hockman was the last Griffin to qualify for indoor nationals in 2014.

O'Connor hit his qualifying mark of 2.10 meters at the Youngstown State Invitational on February 4th.  Patrick finished tied for second at the PSAC Championships last weekend with a mark of 2.04 meters.

O'Connor will compete at 3 PM Eastern Time on Friday, March 10th.  He joins 19 other PSAC track athletes who will take part in the championships.
