Box Score Seton Hill returned to action at the PSAC Baseball Championships with an elimination matchup against California on Friday afternoon. The Griffins and the Vulcans hooked up in a great battle with the Griffins scoring in the top of the ninth for a 10-9 win. SHU improves to 41-10 overall.
The Griffins took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Garret Vrbanic singled with one out and was at third when
Chris Miller was intentionally walked.
Logan Urtz then scored both runners with a double to right center field.
Zac Heide then homered with one out in the second inning to increase the lead to 3-0. Back to back doubles from Vrbanic and Sell increased the lead to 4-0 for the Griffins. Cal then took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the third inning. SHU retook the lead in the top of the fifth. Sell drew a walk and scored when Miller singled thru the right side. Miller moved to third on an error and scored when Urtz singled.
Cody Herald followed with a two run shot to right field.
Vrbanic hit a solo homer in the top of the sixth but the Griffins responded with a solo shot of their own to cut the SHU lead to 9-6. Cal scored twice in the seventh to tie the score at 9 after seven innings of action. The Griffins retook the lead in the top of the ninth.
Logan Urtz led off with a single and scored when
Cody Herald doubled to give SHU a 10-9 lead.
Perry DellaValle earned the win with 3 innings of relief.
Cody Herald was 4-5 and drove in the game winning run.

Logan Urtz each had 3 hits.
Taylor Schmidt finished with 2 hits.
SHU will now take on East Stroudsburg at 6:30 this evening needing to beat the Warriors twice to advance to the championship game.
