Seton Hill wrestling assistant coach Mark Marshall will be competing at the Veterans World Championships later this month. Marshall qualified for the event by winning the Veterans Freestyle Nationals in Las Vegas this past April. Marshall has been a Volunteer Assistant Wrestling Coach for the Griffins since its inaugural season in 2006.
On August 26
th and 27
th, Mark will be representing not only Seton Hill University but team USA in Belgrade, Serbia competing against the world's best at the Veterans World Championships. "Mark has been an integral part of the growth and success of the Griffin Wrestling program. Having him represent Seton Hill and team USA brings publicity to Seton Hill University at the International level," said
Brian Tucker. "This is an incredible accomplishment and I am thankful he is part of our program and that we get the chance to share in this accomplishment."
Mark wrestled in college for Indiana State and has been involved in wrestling in some way for his entire life, including a stint at California University of Pennsylvania as an Assistant Coach. At Seton Hill he works on the mat primarily with the heavyweights. Mark uses his PhD in Sports Psychology to assist with the mental training of the wrestling team as well as serving as a Sports Psychology consultant with other sports teams at Seton Hill.
In October of 2012, Mark found himself dizzy on a routine run and even lost consciousness. It was discovered that Mark had an abnormal heart rhythm known as Atrial Fibrillation. After working closely and tirelessly with the doctors at Allegheny General, Mark is now back to training at a high level and competing at the highest level – The Veterans World Championships.
