Box Score Seton Hill played its first ever baseball game after midnight with an 11:55 start against Shepherd in the NCAA Atlantic Regional at Owls Field in West Lawn, PA. The game got a late start because of rain earlier in the day. The late start didn't effect the Griffins as they survived and advanced with a 4-1 victory over Shepherd. SHU improves to 38-15 on the season.
Seton Hill got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the third inning.
Garret Vrbanic singled with one out. He moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from
Taylor Schmidt and scored when
Brendan Costantino singled down the right field line. The Griffins added two more runs in the fourth.
Nick Sell led off the inning with a single and scored on a double from
Cody Herald.
Matt Malacane then singled in Herald to give SHU a 3-0 lead.
Shepherd was able to cut the Griffins lead to 3-1 with a run in the top of the seventh. Griffin starter
Brad Schnelle was able to escape a huge jam, getting out of a second and third one out situation with two ground outs. SHU got that run back in the bottom of the seventh. Vrbanic led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a sac bunt from Schmidt. Costantino was then hit by a pitch. Both runners then moved up on a double steal and Vrbanic then scored on a wild pitch to increase the lead to 4-1.
Brad Schnelle earns his sixth victory of the season. He went 7 innings and gave up 7 hits and just 1 run.
Alex Haines earned his second save of the season with two scoreless innings.

Seton Hill advances in the NCAA Regional and will meet the number one seed Millersville in the winners bracket final. First pitch is set for 1 PM on Saturday afternoon.
