Griffins Fall to Slippery Rock in PSAC Tournament

The Griffins traveled to Slippery Rock on Saturday evening for their first ever PSAC Tournament contest.  Seton Hill played right with the Rock but came up short at the end, falling by the score of 68-65 to end their season.  SHU ends the season at 15-12.

The Griffins jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead on a jumper from Malachi Leonard and two baskets from Kameron Taylor.  Two free throws from Max Kenyi gave the Griffins an 11-4 lead with just over 12 minutes remaining in the half.  Oliver McGlade followed with a three pointer to give SHU the 10 point lead at 14-4.  SRU answered back with a 17-2 run to take a 21-16 lead with 6:16 left to play in the half.  Nate Perry hit a three pointer with 4:44 to play to tie the score at 24.  The Rock closed the half on a 12-4 run to take a 36-28 halftime lead. 

Slippery Rock hit one of two free throws to open the second half and then the Griffins went on a 10-0 run to take a 38-37 lead three minutes into the second half.  Malachi Leonard had 4 points during the run.  Neither team held more than a two point lead over the next six minutes and Oliver McGlade tied the score at 44 with a three pointer at the 11:34 mark of the second half.  Slippery Rock was able to build their lead up to 58-52 with 3:40 left in the half.  Kameron Taylor completed a three point play to cut the lead to 58-55.  Two free throws from Taylor then tied the score at 59 with just under two minutes to play.  After the Rock hit one of two free throws, Taylor hit a jumper to give the Griffins a 61-60 lead with 1:24 to play.  SRU hit two free throws and after a SHU missed shot, Slippery Rock hit a three to give them a 65-61 lead with 33 seconds to play.  Taylor followed by hitting two free throws to cut the lead to 65-63 with 23 seconds left.  SRU then hit one of two free throws and Taylor then answered with a jumper to cut the lead to 66-65 with 10 seconds left.  SRU hit both of their free throws and the Griffins last second shot came up short.

Kameron Taylor led the Griffins with 18 points.  Malachi Leonard added 16 points.  Max Kenyi finished with 9 points.
